According to the operative standards in Bulgaria (BDS EN 15038:2006) the translation page consists of 1800 characters (incl. the intervals). “Translation page” means a page from the translated text.

In the sense of that, the price of translation is determined namely over the numbers of the translated pages, not over the numbers of the original.

The terms for translation and legalization can be different depending on your needs. There is a normal (5-6 working days), urgent (3 working days) and express service (1 day) both on our part and on the part of Ministry of Foreign Affairs. However, not every document can be legalized for a day, like diplomas, for example.

This is an official translation that bears the certification for the authenticity of translator’s signature of Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria. Legalized translation could be made only of an original or notary certified copy of official document, which bears the necessary translations, seals and previous certifications. The Apostille is a special certification applied to the document itself or as an attachment, which certifies the authenticity of the signatures and seals affixed on the document. The Apostille certification means legalization of the document by the competent body of the state, where the document is issued.

This is a translation, which bears the signature of a sworn translator, who certifies the authenticity of the translation done by them, as well as the letter-head and the seal of an agency that has been authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for making official translations.

Legalization means authentication (certification) of Bulgarian or foreign documents issued by state or municipal authorities through signature and seal from the competent authority. The certification is made by certain state authorities as ministries, courts and state agencies, as well as notaries, when signatures are certified. This is a translator, who meets the requirements of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for having command of a foreign language and has signed an affidavit before notary they are aware of the penalty responsibility they bear about the authenticity of the translation. Personal data and translator’s signature are registered in “Certification and legalization” section with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and respectively the translator is entered into the list of one or more agencies, which have entered into a contract for making official translations.

To acknowledge a document issued abroad in Bulgaria and vice versa, Bulgarian document to be acknowledged in a foreign country, it must be translated and “legalized”. The translation should be made by a translator, who has been authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to do official translations.

In Bulgaria, the legalization of public and civil documents with an Apostille is made by the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs http://apostille.mfa.bg./ and by the Ministry of Justice if the documents are certified by notaries or courts. However, before that the documents must be certified by the respective competent authorities – municipalities, ministries, state agencies, etc.
